Present meets future, that’s one way a person could sum up Frank Washington’s upcoming match. A veteran of the sport Frank had quite the resume of success from championship accolades to numerous Match of the Night performances, the latter especially was a reason why he has been a rather hot commodity in the wrestling world through the years. Much like the legend of King Midas anything he touched turned to gold and whether he was loved by the fans like he was now or the villainous Revolutionary Turncoat that earned the scorn of many he always put on a show like no other. But Fallon King was a man new to the business, a rookie and a man from humble beginnings. Ultimately Fallon King was a fan pursuing his dreams much like he himself was many years ago, something he could definitely respect. Men like Fallon King were the future of this industry and one day it would be his turn to carry the torch into the future but first he would have to earn it and as far as Frank was concerned he still had plenty of years left as an active competitor; he’d have to earn this victory if he wanted to make a name for himself.
The scene opens up inside Frank Washington’s garage turned personal gym inside his second home in New Orleans. Instead of flying across country to San Jose after From the Ashes he decided to stay in the south in the city he originally called home taking time to visit family he hasn’t seen in quite a while. The gym equipment while not quite state of the art as the Emerald Academy was in good condition none the less despite showing the wear and tear from years of use. Frank could be seen sitting on the weight bench in a pair of gym shorts and a towel hanging from his neck.
Frank Washington: You know I could sit here from this bench after watching that video that Fallon King posted nearly a week ago for RWD, I could say a multitude of things and dissect everything from the delivery to the execution… but I’m not going to do that. You know it’s not every day you see a rookie coming into this industry looking to pay his dues and come in with the mindset of actually earning their stripes. Most rookies would see this as an opportunity to try to leapfrog and attempt to use this as a shortcut to stardom before knowing all the ins and outs – but you’re different.
Frank flashes a smile to the camera.
Frank Washington: You’re a man just looking to live your dream fresh out of Middle America. Instead of using a professional camera crew or even a semi-professional setup you have your best friend doing the video work. Hell you’re not even afraid to embrace your inner roleplayer and your love for nachos; you want to do this because it’s something you love not because you want a six figure contract. I wish more people like you walked through the doors of the Emerald Academy to tell you the truth and had that… pure spirit of what professional wrestling used to be all about.
Frank clasps his hands together and leans forward on the bench in deep thought. Frank had been in this situation plenty of times before with the rookie going against the veteran with the rookie looking to get off on a hot start but this instance stood out to him from all the others. Perhaps it was a the rather humble and honest approach or perhaps it was his eye for evaluating talent at the Emerald Academy but he had a hunch this rookie, Fallon King could be something special. His eyes reflected both an unyielding calm yet at the same time a steely determination; despite his words of praise he knew he couldn’t look past this opponent.
Frank Washington: But it’s going to take more than just a pure spirit to cut it in the middle of that ring when that bell rings. How are you going to react when you take your first knife edge to the chest, as you feel it igniting your nerves on fire? How will you react when you take your first clothesline and your body whips back to the canvas like a man involved in a car accident? How will you react when I lock you into your first german suplex, lifting you up and slamming you down to the mat… and I don’t let go? How are you going to react when you take german suplex after german suplex, trying to kick out of that bridge each time? Are you going to have the energy? Are you going to have that passion and fire to push through the pain and keep getting up for more? Make no mistake Fallon King, I may respect your honesty and your philosophy of this great industry but at the end of the day? I’m here for the “W” and I’m going to do everything in my power to achieve that and so should you. That my friend… is Revolutionary.
With that the scene fades to black.
