Brendan Reynalds – Ladies and Gentlemen, please allow me to introduce the RWD Women’s Champion…ARTEMIS KAISER!
The soft opening of “Our Truth” by Lacuna Coil began to play throughout the packed Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Theatre. The crowd began to rally their contempt towards the self-proclaimed Champion for Life. As the lights dim, the rumbling of thunder rang out through the arena as Artemis appeared from behind the curtain. Her championship was holstered on her shoulder. A hand gently placed on top of it to keep it from moving. She looked among the crowd, but her look was devoid of its usual arrogance. After a moment of idleness, she began to make her way down to the ring.
West Newhaven – Ah, yes, here she comes, Matt! Our wonderful, glorious, Champion for Life!
Matt didn’t have anything to say, but released a sigh of exasperation as his commentary partner went on.
West Newhaven – She has decided to grace us with her presence before the main event tonight! It is a rarity to see her come out here on her own free accord. It must be something special!
Matt Bailey – I must agree with you on this one, West. Artemis is making her way down here with a sense of purpose. Her face is clearly not the one we’re used to. I haven’t even seen her make a smirk at the crowd yet. Something isn’t right.
Artemis stood at the cusp of the ring, giving a look to her championship. With a sigh, she made her way left. She ignored the fans. Even the one that held a sign stating “Shawna’s gonna kill you!” That same man bore the shirt that Frank Washington wore to promote the main event. Artemis stepped into the ring methodically. She similarly stepped to the center, calling for a microphone.
West Newhaven – Our champion is going to speak to us.
Matt Bailey – Obviously, West. You can stop spazzing over every action she makes.
West Newhaven – Shut up, Matt. It is time.
Artemis held the microphone now. She spun it in her hand meticulously, finally giving the crowd a proper once over. The cascade of boos did not faze her one bit. She looked at her championship again before turning back. The lights were still dimmed. A solitary spotlight rested over her.
Artemis Kaiser – You can quit your insolent booing. I am going to make this as quick as possible. I have a main event to prepare for. I have an announcement to make. It is important to the future of RWD and mostly, Shawna Martinez. From the Ashes is approaching quicker than we can both expect it. We are the main event. Our hatred for each other has garnered us that. I am impressed to say the least that you managed to crawl back into the wrestling business, let alone fight me. I personally thought that I ended you. But here we are…about to face each other again.”
She paused.
Artemis Kaiser – But there is something biting at my psyche. The lot of you believe that I have not earned my championship. I went undefeated in MSW and carried the women’s division? I don’t deserve the belt. I gladly come over here and instantly improve the women’s division? No, I don’t deserve it. I even kicked Marie Porter’s teeth in! I still don’t deserve this belt. Okay, I see that you are a rough crowd.
West Newhaven – An unappreciative one. None of these people have any knowledge of how great our Women’s Champion is.
Matt Bailey – But they do know how big her ego is.
Artemis Kaiser – So tonight, I have come out to do two things. The first being is my announcement of what my match with Shawna is going to be. I wish to break Shawna mentally. Since she cannot take the hint with me breaking her neck. I guess I have to sit down and educate her. I will educate her for thirty minutes. Thirty whole minutes of me teaching Shawna Martinez who I am and what being Champion for Life means! Yes, you heard right. I have told Elliot Channing that Shawna will have to survive an Ironwoman match with me! I will beat Shawna Martinez to a bloody pulp in those thirty minutes. It will hardly be a match. It will just be a delayed execution. And at the end of it all, Artemis Kaiser will be holding up this belt here. And all of you will have to deal with it.
The crowd responded with a flurry of boos and jeers.
Artemis Kaiser – And you want to know why I have such anger and motivation to end you, Shawna? It is because of my second announcement. As of right now, Artemis Kaiser is no longer your RWD Women’s Champion.
West Newhaven – WHAT?!
Matt Bailey couldn’t help but stifle a laugh. His partner sat in his seat with the most heartbroken look on his face.
Artemis Kaiser – Yes, I am vacating this championship. I admit it. I did not earn this belt. I will go down in the record books as the first champion, but I rather win it the old-fashioned way. Like I did in MSW. And you know what is ironic? I will be winning a championship again at Shawna’s expense. There is a fine reason why.
Matt Bailey – Get ready, West. You might be comatose after all of this.
Artemis Kaiser – If I destroy you and win the championship that way, then I can shut all of the naysayers up. Frank Washington won’t have any stupid things to say if I win this championship and paint it with your blood. He will have to see the image of Artemis Kaiser painting this pretty belt red with his wife’s blood. And there is nothing he can do about it. It will be glorious. So there you go, RWD fans. Your Champion for Life is going to win her belt back. I will be your first two-time RWD Women’s Champion. It will be like I said in MSW, the revolving door continues. I might just vacate it a couple of months later and win it back. Consider it my blessing. It is the only time any of you females have a fair chance at winning it.
Artemis took the belt off her shoulder and began to look at it.
Artemis Kaiser –– Hasta luego, my dear championship. In due time, you will be resting on my shoulder once again.
She gave it a kiss and then lowered it down. A somber moment befell the former champion. She was losing her pride and joy. She then handed off to the closest official. Artemis then exited the ring and began to head back to her locker room. The crowd, the official, and mostly West Newhaven were confused. Did that just really happen? Oh yes, it did.
