The scene opens up outside the Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix Arizona as the sun was already beginning to set. Frank Washington could be seen alone wearing a black suit after leaving the latest RWD flight, having boarded the first flight out to Phoenix in order to discuss business. Shawna was currently not by his side but none the less they have stood unified in the face of corruption and as of right now were slated to take on Abdullah Assad and Artemis Kaiser in a tag team match. Surprisingly it was their first as a team in a wrestling ring but it certainly won’t be their last; the big question is not If or when but where? There was a bit of swirling uncertainty in the RWD upon the breaking news of Drew Stevenson leaving the company, a man Frank Washington considers a brother and even if Travis Rech considers the payday a big victory he had to know deep down it hurt the health of his company. Frank planned to address that and much more on the heels of the Combat fallout after shutting out RWD cameras for two weeks. They say you should be careful what you wish for however, because Frank planned on giving them more than they could chew.
Frank Washington: You know I bet you feel proud of yourself Travis Rech. You managed to turn one our Jokers brothers against us, spouting the same bullshit Garland has been spouting for nearly a year. You drove a wedge between us and Frankie Cocheese and in the end you got the match result you wanted.
Frank shook his head in disgust. Right now there were no clever quips or shining confidence, just a man with a voice and a stage to air his grievances from the heart.
Frank Washington: But you know I shouldn’t have expected anything different right? RWD Management is obsessed with crafting the result they want regardless of how they get there, whether that’s throwing money at the problem or gathering enough corporate stooge “Yes Men” to carry out their bidding. In a place and time not so long ago the results were determined by our work in the very ring we all call our home away from home instead of seeing how much you can stack the odds in the favor of one side or convincing people to “take a dive” for the sake of “business”. RWD Management only sees dollar signs in their eyes, motivated solely by greed as their increasing tunnel vision blinds them to the walls caving in around them.
I bet right now Travis Rech is sitting on his nice leather chair in his little throne room at RWD HQ thinking what a genius he was to get Drew Stevenson to quit and leave the company and the big windfall of cash he got from the termination of his contract. “Oh now Frank Washington has one less person to help him and Shawna Martinez, he turned his back on his brother just like Frankie Cocheese. Mission Accomplished!”
He drenches that last statement with a healthy dose of sarcasm as he grinned like a man defiantly standing at the gallows.
Frank Washington: Drew Stevenson didn’t quit because the RWD Machine broke the 6-Time Hall of Famer, and he certainly didn’t quit as an act of betrayal like I’m sure your little monkeys are going to proclaim in the newsletter. He quit because he was tired of wasting his time in a dying company, a company that shit on the legacy that his Uncle Danny Stevenson built! You capitalized like an opportunistic leach when MSW had turmoil in the front office and bought a company that should’ve died with a sense of dignity. Instead of starting fresh RWD Management decides to continue the lineage of MSW but you only pick the parts that are appealing, you acknowledge title history yet you hand out belts on a whim completely disconnected and with a sense of entitlement. Personal issues aside I think Artemis Kaiser is one hell of an athlete and competitor and she definitely earned her keep in MSW but as far as RWD is concerned? She was handed a championship without lifting a damn finger, no wonder the locker room thinks this place is ran like a circus!
But where’s Management to be held accountable? Whenever there’s a concern to be brought up where’s Mr. Rech? When the fans begin to question exactly what they’re seeing and why… where’s Mr. Rech? When talent begins to leave the company and wrestlers stop looking to work for RWD because of the mishandling of talent… where’s Mr. Rech, where’s RWD Management? At least Stevenson in Missouri State was always around; at least Stevenson was working hard to train people in the Emerald Academy and recruiting talent from around the world. At least Stevenson was always around to hear people out whenever they had a concern or an issue troubling them. How can you have a 6-Time Hall of Famer and not know what to do with him? Or what about Stevenson telling Rech that this “idea” of yours is going to make or break you, do you remember that one when the cameras weren’t running?
Frank chuckles knowing the RWD camera crew would’ve already cut him off if it weren’t for the fact that he hired his own cameraman specifically for this promo. Surely RWD Management wouldn’t be pleased with his words but the fact of the matter is the outspoken Revolutionary was only getting started.
Frank Washington: But everything is ok right? Rome isn’t falling and the Empire is thriving!
There was another healthy dose of sarcasm from Frank Washington as he made a very exaggerated shrug.
Frank Washington: You know before it was revealed to me that my contract was bought out without my knowledge I actually pointed several Missouri State alumni your direction. As much as Robert Garland and I may hate each other, no matter how much chaos we created in pursuit of one another I gave you the benefit of the doubt Rech. I saw what you could do as a promoter, I worked FOR you on Sunday Brunch’s final show Time to Dine when I was happily sitting in retirement. I did it because I felt like I owed it to the brand to wrestle one more match, because I left a mark on the spinoff promotion that carried the same linage and history over. If it wasn’t for me you wouldn’t have people like Frankie Cocheese, Drew Stevenson, or Shawna Martinez in RWD to begin with. And I don’t say this out of arrogance but as a fact; I pointed them here so their work in MSW wouldn’t be for nothing!
A certain intensity could be seen in his eyes as he spoke. He was letting out weeks of pent up aggression and anger out of his system, no longer holding his tongue and going with the flow of events.
Frank Washington: And yet I stand here for another week with the same questions on my mind “why am I bothering to show up? Why am I investing my time in RWD?” I don’t mean that as any disrespect to my opponents or anyone else on the roster but what exactly am I doing here, because my previous legal team were bribed? Is it because I’m afraid to face fines or a threat of jail time that’ll never hold water in the court of law? Shawna and I could go out there next week and put on a wrestling clinic, we could put on a legitimate Match of the Year candidate in not just RWD but wrestling period. Shawna could finally get her hands on Artemis for breaking her neck and putting her own demons to rest and I could give that ISIS pledging asshole Abullah Assad an indiscriminate ass kicking but at the same time I know there’s a chance Robert Garland is going to abuse his power as General Manager, or Rech heaven forbid makes this a Dutchess of Queensberry Rules match at the last minute; Youtube that one if you aren’t familiar.
Why should I pour out my very best when it might not even matter? I can handle a loss but if I’m just going to keep losing on a whim then why am I even wasting my time? I’ve had plenty of plenty of contract offers recently, all in companies I know I can get a fair shake; hell you could say one offer is particularly “Awesome”.
Frank waves at the camera.
Frank Washington: Hey Alan!
Frank can’t help but flash a sly smirk at the camera.
Frank Washington: Well RWD Management and the fans don’t have to sweat quite yet, I can promise I’ll be at the next Combat but it sure is hell isn’t out of loyalty to RWD, but to my wife Shawna. I’m not going to abandon her and make it a handicap match and let those Dogs of War have their way with her. Shawna can very well defend herself and fight her own battles but RWD Management is the enemy that plagues us both and by extension so do Assad and Artemis.
Frank manages to chuckle a little as it dons on him. Like a light bulb clicking on his focus appears to shift from RWD Management to the rather motley opposition placed before them.
Frank Washington: I guess Travis Rech didn’t really think this one through, I mean he realizes who he teamed up right? An angry Arab from Egypt and a cocky martial artist who happens to be the Women’s Paper Champion, how the hell does he expect the two to even co-exist given the massive culture clash? In Assad’s community women should be seen, not heard and covered from head to toe to show modesty while Artemis is about as cocky and outspoken as they get.
Frank shakes his head at the sheer irony of the situation. Travis Rech might as well have booked a cat and a mouse to work together, a pair of natural enemies that clash at their very core.
Frank Washington: Well sad to say he chose the wrong week to team up a pair of polar opposites for the ultimate goal of “softening us up”. From here on out its total war; you cross our path you get taken out and you will be made an example. I honestly don’t know how much life this company has left in it but until we walk out of those doors for the final time we will be heard, we will give no quarter, and we will take no prisoners.
Frank extends his arm towards the camera and forms a gun with his index and middle fingers and his thumb.
Frank Washington: Travis Rech, Robert Garland, Assad, Artemis… I hope you’re ready for your funerals. “In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity”, so says the Art of War. Will you take advantage or will history pass you by? That my friends… is Revolutionary.
Frank follows through with a firing motion, pulling his arm back and up in a recoil motion as the scene immediately goes to black.
