Chris Williams:
It ended rather abruptly. All I wanted to do was lace up the boots one more time, and it almost seems like it finished before it started. And just when it seemed it was over, MSW was scooped up by Garland. Well, for better or worse, at least I still have a job. Of course now I’ll be asked to spend all of my money travelling all over the country. And I really don’t have much of a say in the matter, either, as my contract states that I am required to appear at each show that I am listed for, lest I be liable for breach of contract penalties. Considering I don’t have spare pocket change to pay for court fees, et cetera… looks like I’ll be travelling for awhile.
??
Really? Wow, that sucks. You think you’re up for that again? A big reason you chose MSW was that it was the same location, no travel. You ready to be on the road again?
Chris Williams is pacing through his apartment, speaking into the phone. He’s maneuvering through and around many half-full moving boxes, trying to sort out what goes where.
Chris Williams:
I should be fine. The main reason I chose MSW was that I had unfinished business with half the goddamn roster. After nearly four months in that federation, I still hadn’t gotten to close the book on any of them. Hell, all I really did was start to write new chapters with a few new assholes. I need to finish what I started.
??
Well, the first thing you need to do is handle Noah Adelaide. The guy makes his debut in MSRWD or whatever it is against you.
Chris Williams:
Wrong. The first thing I need to do is pack up and get the hell out of Kansas City, because my lease is up in 2 days. Then I have to get my ass to Knoxville before Sunday, most likely in a freaking moving truck. I’ve got a few people I need to be seeing in Knoxville, anyway. Maybe they can help me out.
??
Help you out how? They got a big ass garage to store all your shit while you go driving ‘round the country side?
Chris Williams:
I don’t know. Honestly, I don’t have any idea what I’m doing, all the way back to MSW. Everything has been a blur, and I’m ready for it all to slow down. I can’t focus at 100 miles per hour. Hopefully, they can give me a hand with that in Knoxville.
??
What about Daniel Smart?
Chris Williams:
I don’t know.
??
What about Garland and Rech?
Chris Williams:
I DON’T know.
??:
What about Noah A-
Chris Williams:
I DON’T KNOW, ALRIGHT!? Dammit, man!
The line goes dead. Chris leans back against the wall and slumps to the floor, staring off into space. The phone slips from his hands, yet he continues talking aloud to nobody in particular. The self-pity eventually gives way to Williams’ trademark confidence, as a sly smirk washes over his face.
Chris Williams:
The War Machine. Noah Adelaide, the man who’s travelled the world. A young guy, but already more experience than most. Fierce and focused, the guy seems to be all business, all the time. He’s still got a twinkle in his eye and a fire in his belly. And he’s actually in a pretty unique situation when I think about it…. He’s technically an MSW wrestler that never once showed up at an MSW show. So he’s not quite brand new to the RWD like so many others that have signed up. But yet, he’s not really a part of the MSW roster that was brought over, either. Of course yes, Garland bought his contract, but he may as well be on his own.
It’s funny, because I do see a war hitting the RWD eventually down the road. As a federation that is the spiritual successor to MSW, there is more new-blood than old. One day, that will be a problem, and I’m curious as to what side of the fence Noah Adelaide will land. Hell, he may even be the one to spark it… after all, he does call himself the War Machine.
But, that’s a story for another day. For now, looks like I start yet a new chapter with another new foe. Noah, I look forward to seeing what you can do in the ring. You seem to have all the talent in the world. Sure, you may look like a cracked-out little energizer bunny in that ring, but that’s just never been my style. My point is that it’s still effective. I know you’ll bring your best.
As for me, there’s a lot I still haven’t figured out in my life outside this ring. Too much is going on for me to even fully grasp it, and I’ll admit, it has affected me in the past. However, I’m getting past my demons on my own time, and I promise that the real Chris Williams will show up on Sunday. It’s been too long since the fans have seen me at my best. They deserve the real Chris Williams, and so do you. Noah, as part of the first match ever in the history of the RWD, let’s give them one hell of a show.
