As the scene opens, I am on Air Bryce heading to god knows where for the next Combat even. On the jet with me is of course the rest of Bryce INC, consisting of Raquel, and Well Connected. Calling the waiter over, I raise my empty wine glass. As he fills it, I fix my designer collar and give a slow clap toward the camera.
“You did indeed do all the heavy lifting, and for that you should pat yourself on the back for a job well done Grimm.
At the same time though, don’t mind me as I applaud myself as well.
Why you ask? It is very simple really
There are two types of people in this world. People who believe that hard work is the way to success. Then people like me, who realize that how hard you work is truly irrelevant. The fact is the “American Dream” is exactly that a dream, while American greed is alive and well and it is something that I take full advantage of.”
Raising the glass of wine that cost more than the average person’s house payment to my lips, I take a drink of the sweet nectar before I continue.
“In fact, I took advantage of your greed at this past Combat. You looked a little malnourished in your blood lust, so I decided to let you eat. I know the craving very well and seeing that I can afford to indulge anytime I feel like it, I decided to give back, after all everyone can use the good karma now and again.
Believe me when I tell you that no one knows the feeling of having someone’s fate in the palm of the hands better than yours truly. It is a beautiful thing to watch the hope just drain from their eyes as you SQUASH their hopes and dreams, no sweeter dish, wouldn’t you agree?”
The chuckle that escaped my body and manifested itself into sound was accidental but I was glad it did. I wanted Slater Grimm to really hear me. Sometimes the only way for one to truly hear you and understand you is to wear your emotions on your sleeve.
“When people look back in the record books they are not going to see a bunch of sticky notes taped to the side about how dominant Slater Grimm was that night. All their going to see is that night on Combat, the team of Slater Grimm and TJ Bryce pulled out the victory.
So if you get your kicks from busting heads and going full throttle like your some speed freak on bath salts, be my guest. You can accomplish a lot more with a silver tongue and a pen then you can with pure size and brass knocks. Trust me on that OR continue to prove what is starting to become painfully obvious that all that bronze is wasted by the lack of thought.
I experienced you in that ring first hand, I know what you are capable of and color me impressed. You can do amazing things out there but at the end of the day what is all for, to take down the hero’s. If that is the case, believe me when I tell you that I am for sure not your Batman in RWD’s Gotham. If anything I am The Riddler to your Bane. I think we both realize what the real issue is in RWD.
I am not your enemy, we both want a lot of the same things. We just have the misfortune of running at the same pace.
So let me help you, come work WITH me and notice I said WITH and not FOR. All that will in title is staying out of my way and having my back as much I would have yours.”
Reaching into my coat pocket, I pull out my check book and hold a blank check up to the camera.
“This can be filled out however you want it to big man, just stay out of my way. You can deny the offer and still get this check, just get out of my way when the moment calls for it.
OR you can play stupid”
With that I take a lighter out of my pocket and light the check on fire, the check slowly burns in my hand as I continue talking.
“Which is also perfectly fine with me.
I have no problem, showing you exactly who your dealing with in that ring.”
Blowing out the check before I burn myself, I crumble it up and throw it over my shoulder.
"Now I am not sure what exactly that war tangent you went on was truly about, and am not going to spend much time on it. Above all else I want to say thank you for your service, not because it is a noble thing to do but because thanks to American and Canadian soldiers alike, oil is a booming business baby! And my stock portfolio is looking real nice right now.
You can speak ill of Canada, you can talk about Iraq and America’s twisted grip on reality but let me ask you this. In this war that you speak, the War on Terriosm as it was orignally dubbed. How many countries even bothered to help this country out in that pathetic crusade, because it was THIS country and the US at that time trying their hardest to find support. So desperate in fact that they even asked France, the FRENCH, oh how the mighty super power had fallen. MY country did not have to be there, it took pity on you and your failed leadership.”
Pausing for a moment, I am side tracked about the thought of how much money I made when that oil rich country was invaded, worth hundreds of lives, I think so.

“Now onto you Fallon King, I would apologize for not addressing you sooner but I was too busy laughing at you, much like the rest of the world does.
Grimm is right, your attempt at comedy is pathetic and your attempt to drive a divide between me and Slater Grimm at the last Combat was even more so.
Last week Grimm took pleasure in watching me stand at the apron while he had all the fun. This week the joke is truly on him because much like last week. I am going to enjoy watching you squirm as he takes every fighting breath out of your squirming body. Then when the moment is right, whether Slater Grimm gets with the game plan or not, I am going to finish the job.
Your best bet “Thomas” is to stay on your tracks, don’t take adventures on the road less traveled. Because you’re bound to run into trouble. When that bell rings at Combat, it is best if you just lay down and play dead or get run over.”
The scene slowly goes to black.
