The cameras are set in the backstage area, Chris Williams' locker room in full view as the crowd boos loudly and a hand comes on screen as it knocks on the door. The camera pans over to see Co-GM Robert Garland with a serious look on his face. After a few moments, the locker room opens. Chris Williams is seen taking up half the screen, Garland on the other half...
Robert Garland - I know I shouldn't have to say this, but this match of yours tonight is very important. Not even countin' the bullshit that Frank has been saying on Sunday Night Combat... He's been havin' this comin' his way for a very long time. Now, you've beaten him last time and I know you can do it again. The only difference? This time I want you to take him out! You do that for me, and all is right with the world again. That lying bastard will be put to pasture and you will always be under my protection from these fans that no longer want a part of you.
With all that bein' said... How you feelin'?
Chris Williams - ...Tired.
Williams looks like he's been losing sleep lately, the man still showing determination in his eyes.
Chris Williams - Look... I believe in you Garland. I know what you've been saying is right and I know that Frank's the real bad guy in all of this. He's been bending these people to his will, and that's not right. But... By trying to protect these people, I've been labeled as a bad guy. It's hard to think that they won't be cheering my name when I get the victory over Frank yet another time. It's just been hard to adjust to this reality, you know?
Garland seems taken aback but Chris' doubting words. A flame seems to be lit under him as Garland's eyes show signs of anger, but he quickly does his best to calm himself down. Garland now shows a bit of a smirk, Williams hanging in the open doorway as Garland addresses him one final time.
Robert Garland - Look.. I understand that this is all a crazy situation, but those fans need you to help protect them from this "revolution" that idiot is tryin' to put together. They just don't understand that what we're doing is for the best. They're quick to turn on us and label us the bad guys when deep down, they know they should be thankful that we care so much to go so far out of our way for them. Keep that thought in your head tonight. You're the good guy here, Chris... You're doing the right thing and don't let anyone tell you otherwise...
As Garland finishes his speech, he extends a hand. Chris smiles, shaking and nodding along as Garland goes to walk away... Before turning back one last time.
Robert Garland - Oh... And one more quick thing.
Chris Williams - Sure boss, what's up?
Robert Garland - Well...
If you don't pick up the win tonight... I never want to see you around here again! Now... Let's have a good match, alright? I'll be in your corner pal. We'll get that bastard and pay him back for everythin' he's done!
Garland leaves the scene, Chris looking wide-eyed at his last statement before shaking his head and shutting his door. With an even bigger burden now on his shoulders, the cameras fade out as the show looks to cut back to the in-ring action.
