[The scene opens as we seeing Hayden Phoenix sitting on a leather couch, about five feet in front of him is an HDTV. As the camera focuses a bit in on the television we can see that he is watching his tag team match weeks ago, where he teamed up with his opponent John Carter. The two won the match with Phoenix doing the damage and Carter getting the "W". The camera pans back to Hayden as he grabs a remote and pauses the television before addressing the camera]
From The Ashes... that is what a Phoenix does... how about that? It almost seems as though RWD's first Pay-Per-View was named for me personally? The stars must be aligning just right so me, haha. Over the past few weeks it has been known that I offered an open challenge to anyone out there for a match at this PPV. You know, I was hoping to draw a big name... maybe someone the likes of a man I faced before, Frankie Cocheese... or maybe someone like Frank Washington... but it looks like John Carter decided that he wanted to step up to the plate and give it a big ol' swing. That is fine, I can respect someone that sees as opportunity to make a name for themselves and to come out here to give it a go with me. Carter did say that I won't make it past him, but I think he fails to remember that it was I that had won our tag match during my debut... and I allowed him to tag in to pick up the win because he had some prior business with our opponents. I just as easily got the 1-2-3 for the match, but I was a teammate and I respected that there was bad blood between Carter and DeFalco. Nonetheless, we won that match and both have gone on to be somewhat successful. At From The Ashes, this Phoenix will rise above the competition and make himself known to those main eventers that I believe I deserve to face off against. We both are on our own paths to main eventing, but after this week my stock will be going UP-UP-UP and the stock of Mr. John Carter will be going DOWN-DOWN-DOWN.
Now I can respect someone like Carter who believes wholeheartedly that he can defeat me; that is exactly the attitude he had for our match together and why I did not mind tagging with him even though I am more of a singles match type of guy. But Carter does not know what is in store for him this week, and he does not know how much this match means to me. For me to come out, make a declaration and open an open challenge... losing this match would be a career threatening move. I cannot make a challenge and have my ass handed to me... that is why I am confident with knowing that I will put everything on the line. This is my first Pay-Per-View and I am sure as hell going to make it count. I won my debut RWD match, and I intend on staying undefeated in debut matches.
[Phoenix grabs the remote and points it at the television, but before hitting the play button he finishes speaking]
I am doing my due diligence and studying up on my opponent... knowing what he brings inside of that squared circle. I know better than to overlook ANY opponents, especially as this match is so pivotal this early in my RWD career. I am going to do everything in my power to guarantee a win for myself. Carter, it is nothing personal.... it is all business.
[Phoenix hits play on the match and continues to watch film on his opponent John Carter]
